01 - Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-23

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the operator of PyxelJam.Studio ("PXLJ", "the Service", "we", "us") covering your use of the platform at https://pyxeljam.studio.

By creating an account, clicking to accept, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, to the Acceptable Use Policy, to the AI Content Terms, and to the Privacy Policy. Those three documents are incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

PXLJ is operated from the United States by:

2. What the Service is

PXLJ is a web-based AI video production platform. It helps you take a script or concept through analysis, shot listing, storyboarding, image generation, video generation, audio generation, editing and export.

PXLJ does not train, host or operate its own AI models. All generation is performed by third-party model providers acting on your instruction. Which providers, and what that means for your rights in the results, is set out in the AI Content Terms and in Section 6 of the Privacy Policy.

3. Eligibility

3.1 You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. The Service produces and processes generative media, and we do not offer it to minors.

3.2 If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation, and "you" in these Terms means both you and that organisation.

3.3 You may not use the Service if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive US sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), or if you appear on a US restricted-party list such as the Specially Designated Nationals list. You also may not use the Service in violation of US export control law.

4. Accounts, seats and account owners

4.1 Registration. You register with a username and, where you sign up publicly, an email address which we verify before granting trial credits. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.

4.2 Account owner. Every account has exactly one account owner. The owner's record holds the subscription tier and the credit balance.

4.3 Seats. An account owner may invite collaborators as seats. A seat inherits the owner's subscription tier and draws on the owner's credit balance. Seat limits are enforced in the product and are currently:

TierSeats (including the owner)Projects
Starter11
Standard2Unlimited
Pro5Unlimited

4.4 The account owner is responsible for the acts and omissions of every seat on their account, including all credit consumption and all compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy.

4.5 Seats are personal. A single seat may not be shared between two or more people, and accounts may not be created by automated means.

4.6 Staff accounts. The ADMIN role in the product is reserved for platform staff and bypasses tier gating. It is not available to customers.

5. Subscriptions and automatic renewal

5.1 PXLJ offers three tiers. Starter is free of charge. Standard and Pro are paid subscriptions, priced in US dollars:

TierMonthlyAnnualIncluded credits per month
StarterFreeFreeNone recurring
Standard$29$2903,000
Pro$79$79010,000

5.2 Automatic renewal, plainly stated. Standard and Pro are automatically renewing subscriptions. Unless you cancel first:

  • a monthly plan renews every month and charges $29 (Standard) or $79 (Pro) to your payment method;
  • an annual plan renews every 12 months and charges $290 (Standard) or $790 (Pro) to your payment method;
  • renewal continues indefinitely until you cancel;
  • renewal is charged at the then-current price, subject to the notice in 5.5.

5.3 How to cancel. Cancel at any time, without contacting support, from the billing portal inside your account (Settings, then Billing). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Your subscription features and any unspent subscription credits remain available until then, subject to the expiry rules in Section 6. You may also cancel by emailing support@pyxeljam.studio.

5.4 Renewal reminders. For annual plans we send an email reminder before each renewal, stating the renewal date, the amount and how to cancel.

5.5 Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change takes effect for you, and the change will apply from your next renewal. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before the renewal date.

5.6 Payments. Payment is processed by Stripe. PXLJ never receives or stores your full card number. We store only the Stripe customer, subscription and price identifiers needed to manage your plan.

5.7 Taxes. Prices are stated exclusive of tax unless the checkout page says otherwise. Where we are required to collect US state or local sales tax, or a non-US consumption tax such as VAT or GST, on a sale to you, that tax is added at checkout and shown before you pay. You are responsible for any other tax arising from your use of the Service.

5.8 Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend paid features and stop monthly credit grants until payment succeeds. Your projects and generated files are not deleted because of a failed payment, subject to Section 11.

6. Credits

6.1 What a credit is. Generation work (images, video, audio, transcription, language-model calls and similar) is metered in credits. One credit has a retail value of $0.01. The credit price of an action is the underlying provider cost multiplied by a platform margin and rounded up to a whole credit. That margin covers payment processing, failed and retried takes, orchestration overhead and trial subsidy.

6.2 How credits arrive. Credits reach your account in four ways:

KindHow you get itExpiry
Trial300 credits, once, when a new signup verifies their email90 days from grant
SubscriptionYour tier's monthly allowance, granted each billing periodEnd of the billing period plus a one-month rollover window
PackPurchased one-off (see 6.3)Never expires
AdjustmentGranted by us, e.g. a goodwill re-creditAs stated at the time of grant

6.3 Credit packs.

PackCreditsPrice
Small1,000$12
Medium5,000$50
Large15,000$120

6.4 Spending order. Credits are drawn down oldest-expiry-first, so expiring credits are always used before credits that last longer. Your live balance and a full entry-by-entry history are visible in the billing area.

6.5 Credits are not money. Credits have no cash value outside the Service, cannot be transferred between accounts, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are not a payment instrument, deposit, stored-value instrument or gift card.

6.6 Expiry. Trial and subscription credits expire as set out in 6.2. Purchased credit packs do not expire. Expired credits are not refundable and are not reinstated. We will surface a low-balance warning in the product, but it is your responsibility to spend expiring credits before they expire.

6.7 Consumed credits are non-refundable. When you run a generation, we incur a real, immediate and non-recoverable cost with a third-party model provider, whether or not you are happy with the creative result. Credits spent on a job that ran are therefore not refundable, including where the output is not to your taste, is off-brief, is stylistically wrong, or was rejected by the provider's own content filter after the job started.

6.8 When we do re-credit. We will re-credit your account where a generation failed because of a fault on our side (for example an error in our pipeline, a mis-metered charge, or a double charge). Write to support@pyxeljam.studio within 30 days of the charge and tell us which job. This is in addition to, and does not limit, any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.

6.9 Goodwill re-credit for a first batch. Separately from Section 6.8, and once per account, we may re-credit a new account's first generation batch where the result disappointed you even though nothing failed on our side. Ask support@pyxeljam.studio within 30 days of that batch. The re-credit is discretionary, is limited to the credits that batch consumed, and is available once only.

7. Refunds and cancellation

7.1 Our refund policy. Outside the fault-based re-credit in Section 6.8:

  • Subscriptions. Subscription fees are charged in advance for the period and are non-refundable. We do not pro-rate partial periods. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are in.
  • Credit packs. Purchased credits you have not consumed may be refunded on request within 14 days of purchase. Credits you have already consumed cannot be refunded, for the reason given in Section 6.7.
  • How to ask. Email support@pyxeljam.studio from the account's registered email address. We refund to the original payment method.

7.2 State consumer protection law. Nothing in this section limits rights you have that cannot be waived under the consumer protection law of your state of residence, including any state statute governing automatic renewals (see Section 5.2 to 5.4).

7.3 Chargebacks. If you dispute a charge with your card issuer without contacting us first, we may suspend the account while the dispute is resolved. Please write to us first; most disputes are a metering question we can answer in a day.

7.4 Consumers outside the United States. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the EEA or the UK, local mandatory consumer law may give you rights we cannot exclude, including a statutory right of withdrawal for distance contracts, subject to its own carve-out for digital content supplied immediately with your express consent. Where such a right applies to you, it applies in addition to this section.

8. Your content and generated output

Ownership of what you upload and what the Service generates is dealt with in full in the AI Content Terms. In summary: you own your inputs, and as between you and us you own the outputs. We claim no ownership stake and we do not train models on your content.

You grant us only the limited licence needed to run the Service for you: storing your content, displaying it back to you and to people you share it with, transmitting it to the model providers that perform generation on your instruction, and creating derived files such as thumbnails, posters, normalised audio and re-encoded video.

9. Acceptable use

Your use of the Service is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy. Breaching it is a material breach of these Terms.

You are responsible for the legality of everything you upload and everything you generate, including holding the rights and consents needed for any real person's likeness, face or voice that appears in your inputs. This matters particularly for character reference images and for the Acting feature, where you record your own or another person's face and voice.

10. Availability, support and changes to the Service

10.1 No SLA. PXLJ is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not currently offer a service level agreement, an uptime commitment, or service credits for downtime. We aim for continuous availability but we do not guarantee it.

10.2 Maintenance and interruptions. We may suspend the Service for maintenance, and it may be interrupted by failures at our hosting, database, storage or model providers, which are outside our control.

10.3 Model catalogue changes. The AI models available in the Service change as providers launch, reprice, deprecate and withdraw them. We may add, remove, substitute or reprice models at any time. Credit prices for actions follow the underlying provider cost and may therefore change without notice. A model you have used before may become unavailable.

10.4 Feature changes. We may add, change or remove features, including moving a feature between subscription tiers. Where a change materially reduces what your current paid tier provides, we will give notice by email and you may cancel.

10.5 Support. Support is by email at support@pyxeljam.studio and through the contact form in the help centre. We do not commit to a response time. The one exception is an appeal against an enforcement action under the Acceptable Use Policy, Section 12, where we commit to acknowledge within 5 business days and decide within 30 days.

11. Suspension and termination

11.1 By you. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. You may ask us to delete your account by writing to support@pyxeljam.studio (see the Privacy Policy for what deletion covers).

11.2 By us for cause. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you materially breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if we are required to by law, or if your use creates a serious risk to the Service, to us, or to other people. For the zero-tolerance categories in the AUP, termination is immediate and permanent. Subscription fees are not refunded, and trial and subscription credits are forfeited. Unconsumed credits from a purchased credit pack are forfeited only where the termination is for a child-safety breach or a serious likeness breach as defined in the Acceptable Use Policy, Section 11.4; on termination for any other cause we refund the unconsumed pack balance to the original payment method.

11.3 By us for convenience. We may terminate a free Starter account, or discontinue the Service entirely, on 30 days' notice. If we discontinue the Service, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid subscription period and the unconsumed balance of any purchased credit pack.

11.4 Effect of termination. On termination your access ends. We will retain and then delete your content in line with the retention section of the Privacy Policy. Export anything you need before you terminate.

11.5 Survival. Sections 6.5 to 6.7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 survive termination.

12. Warranties and disclaimers

12.1 The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

12.2 We specifically do not warrant that:

  • the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free;
  • any generated output will be accurate, original, unique, fit for your purpose, or free of third-party rights (see the AI Content Terms);
  • output produced from the same inputs will be reproducible;
  • a given model, resolution, duration or feature will remain available.

12.3 The Service is a filmmaking tool, not a professional adviser. Nothing it generates is legal, medical, financial, psychological or other professional advice, however confidently it is worded, and you must not rely on it as such or present it to anyone else as such. Where a production touches a regulated subject, have a qualified professional check it before you publish.

12.4 Some states do not allow the exclusion of certain implied warranties, so parts of 12.1 may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

13.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, nor for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, business opportunity, or loss or corruption of data or content, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if we were advised of the possibility.

13.2 Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms, in any 12-month period, is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) USD 100.

13.3 We are not liable for the acts, omissions, content policies, output, outages, pricing or licence terms of third-party model providers, nor for a provider refusing, filtering or failing a generation.

13.4 Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of 13.1 and 13.2 may not apply to you. In that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.

14. Indemnity

If you are a business customer, you will indemnify, defend and hold us harmless against claims, losses and reasonable attorneys' fees arising from your content, your generated output, your breach of these Terms or of the Acceptable Use Policy, or your infringement of a third party's intellectual property, privacy, publicity or personality rights.

15. Changes to these Terms

15.1 We may change these Terms. The current version always lives at this URL with a "Last updated" date.

15.2 For changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email or in-product before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept them, cancel before they take effect.

15.3 Minor changes (typos, clarifications, updated contact details, adding a new subprocessor to a list) take effect on publication.

16. Governing law and disputes

16.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, excluding its conflict of laws rules and excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.

16.2 The state and federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, and both parties consent to personal jurisdiction there. This does not prevent either party from bringing an individual claim in small claims court.

16.3 Class action waiver. To the extent permitted by law, each party may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective or representative proceeding.

16.4 Consumers. If you are a consumer, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your state or country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there where that law says you may.

17. General

17.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the AUP, AI Content Terms and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us on this subject.

17.2 Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, on notice to you.

17.3 Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands.

17.4 No waiver. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.

17.5 Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.

17.6 Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is for convenience; the English version governs.
